Plesk prices are rising: when switching to KeyHelp makes sense

NUXOA Redaktion · 20 October 2026 · Hosting

The next Plesk price adjustment is a good reason to review your hosting environment. If you mainly run conventional websites and mailboxes, KeyHelp is worth including in the comparison. The decision depends on the features you actually need and the total cost of a properly planned migration.

What Plesk has announced for 2027

The publicly available Plesk Store Licensing Guide 2027 takes effect on 1 January 2027. Page 6 lists monthly prices of €15.99 for Web Admin, €28.99 for Web Pro and €62.99 for Web Host. Each euro list price applies to both VPS and dedicated servers; VAT may apply. Sources checked on 20 October 2026.

These are vendor prices for direct online purchases. They do not announce new NUXOA prices or automatically determine your hosting provider's terms. Check your current invoice, edition, billing period and included extensions. A managed plan may already include the licence in its server price.

Where KeyHelp is a suitable alternative

KeyHelp targets Linux web hosting with domains, websites, databases and email. Its base edition is free and has no panel domain limit. Usable capacity still depends on CPU, RAM, storage and application load.

KeyHelp is proprietary software from Keyweb, not an open-source panel. Pro features and additional vendor support need separate consideration. If you need an application installer or specific administration features, compare the base and Pro editions before moving.

These dependencies determine whether a move works

  • Websites: record PHP versions and modules, redirects, custom web server rules, scheduled jobs and file permissions.
  • WordPress and stores: map staging, updates, backups, payment integrations and tasks previously handled through Plesk.
  • Email: review mailbox sizes, aliases, forwarding, filters, automatic replies and credentials.
  • Customer management: compare reseller permissions, quotas, accounts and billing integrations. A new interface does not automatically reproduce these structures.
  • Special cases: assess Windows/IIS applications, specific Plesk extensions and custom automation separately.

Compare total costs, not just licence fees

Compare the server, panel, extensions, backups and operations on the same basis: the same period, tax treatment and comparable resources. Add migration work, any Pro licence, a temporary overlap between servers and team training. A free panel does not make operating the entire server free.

The payback period is the one-time migration cost divided by the actual monthly saving. If savings are small or the move adds manual work, staying with Plesk may be preferable. Use your own contract figures rather than unrelated list prices or blanket percentages.

1. Prepare the destination and trial migration

KeyHelp installation requires a fresh, supported Debian or Ubuntu system. Plan a separate destination server. Installing over the existing Plesk server is not a suitable migration route. Back up files, databases and email data before transferring them, and verify that the backups can be restored.

Start by moving a representative project. Before changing DNS, use controlled test access to check sign-in, forms, uploads, scheduled jobs, database connections and store workflows. Test payments and email in an agreed test environment. A migration tool can reduce work but does not replace acceptance testing.

2. Coordinate data, email and DNS cut-over

  • Agree a cut-over window and decide when to pause writes to stores and other applications.
  • Perform the final file and database synchronisation; resynchronise mailboxes after the switch if needed.
  • Check A, AAAA and MX records, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, reverse DNS and certificates. Include IPv6.
  • After cut-over, check reachability, actual email delivery, TLS and application functionality from outside.

3. Retire the old server only after acceptance

Before moving, define which failures trigger a rollback and who makes the decision. Once the new server receives messages, orders or other data, reverting a DNS record is not enough: these changes must be accounted for in the rollback plan.

End the old contract and Plesk licence only after successful acceptance, taking notice periods into account. Then verify backups and restoration on the new system. Only then is the move complete, both technically and operationally.

Compare Plesk and KeyHelp with NUXOA

We help plan an environment that fits your websites and workflows. For an initial assessment, provide your current panel edition and version, project count, data and email volumes, and required additional features. Do not include credentials in a general contact enquiry.

Our managed KeyHelp service covers the server with the base edition; Pro features and migration are agreed separately. If your environment needs specific Plesk features, managed Plesk remains an option. A feature comparison and trial migration provide the basis for the decision.
